What is Calcium Sulfate Whisker?

Calcium Sulfate Whisker is a fiber-shaped single crystal of calcium sulfate synthesized from raw gypsum by special process and formula. It has a uniform cross section, a complete shape and a highly refined internal structure, is a non-metallic material with many special properties

Application of Calcium sulphate in plastic and composite material industries



Compared to add long fiberous materials, Calcium Sulphate can overcome long fibers in complex molds difficult to distribute evenly, prone to poor adhesive areas, material surface is bright and clean degree of difference, and processing of mould wear serious shortcomings. And due to Calcium Sulphate added, it makes the composite heat resistance performance is improved obviously, the strength of the material mechanical properties after water being boiled, can also be obviously improved. Calcium sulphate has structure Diameter: 5-15 um , length: 10-300 um). And also talents of high strength and high mould. It can disperse evenly in plastic (like PP, PA, PBT, PE, ABS, PVC, POM and other kinds of coatings) and then form polymer-fiber composite materials which increases polymer cohesive strength and decrease materials weakness.
Adding crystal fiber to composite materials can also increase product stability, heat resistance, dielectric property, and decrease contractive rate and water absorption rate, etc. Furthermore, this cross-link structure can be applied in ceramic matrix and metal matrix composite materials to obtain reinforcement effects, and can be applied in paper industry to replace some part of paper making materials. It has widely application in thermal insulation materials as well. Performances: Among all the inorganic fiber-like structure materials, cost of Calcium sulphate has the lowest, cost, and it can lower the cost for final products. In resin grinding wheel, when blending Calcium sulphate in formulation developed, you can reduce resin dosages moderately which reduces the cost of resin grinding wheel and increase grinding wheel market competitiveness.
Calcium sulfate has stable chemical properties: does not destroy bonding strength and has a reinforcing effect. Its raw product is selected from food-grade gypsum and we certify by SGS test report that does not contain asbestos, heavy metals and harmful substances. Therefore, this material is very good to meet the requirements of green material..


Usage

Applications in resin grinding wheel



1.Calcium Sulphate is a new type of filler. Being its natural gifts of high dispersion, of better grabbing with Phenolic/Epoxy resins liquids, once intensively mixing, Calcium Sulphate will be evenly in resin core binder. When temperature rising and lower in process of blending, this material functions cross-link of increasing shear strength and impact strength at finished wheels.
2.This material has energy absorption performance in composites. In collaboration with other fillers, the material binding with resins, Life span of wheels can improve around 20%.
3.Adding Calcium Sulphate can be appropriately reduced some portions of cryolite. The ending product guarantees its sharpening. Meanwhile, grinding efficiency increases.
4.Calcium Sulphate performance good when temperature rising to 1000℃.
5.Its hardness: 3-4 which is moderate material. It doesn’t damage mould.
6.It can lower your costs when Calcium Sulphate is mixed into formulations which are related resin bonded cutting off wheel or resin grinding wheels. By Calcium Sulphate adding, you may reduce resin powder dosage, thus it lower costs of formula. Hence, your wheels are competitive in market.

Usage

Application in friction materials



1. Our material is green generation for aids of reinforcement and toughness in friction linings/shoes/pads. Its fiber-like structure gives improved friction stability while reducing cracking. Especially, item no. NP-M06 blending into formulations can not only increase strength of friction materials, but also improve shear strength and impact strength.
2. Our material is good at stabilizing friction coefficient. Moreover, with more percentage (recommendation dosage: 8% to 15%, Maximum 20%), this effect will more obvious. The actual dosage is subject to customers’formulation design.
3. Our material has good effect in friction wear. Additionally, it stabilizes friction coefficient and good abrasive resistance when braking temperature rises higher. (Material Heat resistance: is 1000℃ and Melting Point is 1450℃).
4. Our material hardness (Mohs) is 3 which is moderate material for brake discs.
5. Comparing with previous formulation without our material, after you blended our material into formulation to be developed, it slightly soften friction materials which will be much more moderate. Therefore, the customers will feel comfort when braking.
6. Our material not produce black ashes, but it can reduce phenomenon of falling ash when braking.
6.1. Our product is made from food-grade gypsum which is free from asbestos, heavy metal and other harmful matters.
7. In Semi-metallic or lower-Metallic formulations, our material can reduce some percentage of steel fiber. (For example, if 18% of steel fiber in previous formulation, 4% of steel fiber can be replaced by our material more or less). Meantime, this replacement makes steel fiber fluffy and reduces friction materials density so as to reduce its noise.
8. From technology arts, our material can’t rise noise in formulation. While because the hardness of mineral fiber, steel fibers, ceramic fibers are usually higher with shots unavoidably, commonly these fibers lead to noise.
9. With our material dosages, you can reduce some proportions of other powders in developing formulation. Meanwhile, our material is easy to be mixed and dispersed which properties modify resins properties. Our customers found it is more noticeable bonding function in collaborating with resins by adding more percentage of our material. By this process, resins percentage will moderately reduce which indirectly decreased costs and enhanced competitiveness of final friction material.
10. Our material can partly or completely replacement of other crystallic fiber (CaCO3 Fiber, Potassium Titanate Fiber,etc.) but properties and performances keep the same/ are optimized. Among all fiber-like materials, our material cost is lowest and indirectly enhance competitiveness of friction material..
